Colorado-based TrickTV has developed a consumer-friendly home control and monitoring system designed to be “affordably simple” for virtually any residential customer. The company’s TrickTV ControlStation lets the end user control lights, security and climate, manage energy usage and monitor the home using a smartphone, a PC or a Samsung Smart TV.
To broaden both its consumer appeal and revenue model, TrickTV offers a dual business model. Consumers can purchase the ControlStation and associated Z-Wave powered device modules as a one-time investment, which allows them local control throughout their home. By choosing a TrickTV Pro account, consumers can extend the reach of their TrickTV system outside their homes for a one time signup fee and a free year of service; additional service beyond year one is through an annual subscription.
MiOS delivered a robust, consumer ready solution that exceeded our expectations, at every level.” – Colin Burke McClure, Director of Product Marketing
To enable these business possibilities, TrickTV needed a development platform that could quickly produce products that were easy enough for consumers to install and operate themselves, but would be versatile enough to interface with the external system offered by the company’s remote access subscription model. Thanks to MiOS, the company has been able to successfully deploy both strategies, with happy consumer experiences and feedback.
“MiOS made it possible for us to quickly and cost effectively launch a home control solution for the Smart Television market,” says Colin Burke McClure, TrickTV’s Director of Product Marketing. “The flexibility of the platform allowed for very rapid development and a robust feature set that resonated strongly with our target audience.”
With MiOS behind the wheel and the most popular TV brand on board with their system, TrickTV has quickly become a significant player in the consumer smart home space.
